Bill Parker
Pastel Paintings, Watercolor and Graphite Drawings
Personally I like to think of myself as a creative problem solver and a painter second. I have a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Communication, Arts and Design I am truly a visual thinker. I spent the better part of my adult life in the world of advertising creating campaigns and crafting messages and visuals. When I paint there is a real self satisfaction, I am creating something I was meant to create. I am free to explore any subject I choose. I am motivated by the unusual things, the things we may take for granted. These quiet treasures become my inspiration.
I also enjoy plein air painting. I never know what to expect and I paint without a preconceived notion of what I will paint. It allows me to be in the moment and capture the spirit of the day. I get engrossed in my work and become detached from my daily routines. I enjoy being emerged in the process. The hardest part is knowing when the piece is complete. I find great joy when someone is moved by my art and wants to take it home with them.
